The small handcrafted terracotta mug is handmade in the village of Idda Douchene, in the Al Hoceïma province, where pottery has traditionally been the work of women and the knowledge is passed down from mother to daughter. Crafted from locally sourced clay collected near the village, each mug is shaped using traditional hand-operated pottery wheels and decorated with geometric Amazigh motifs painted with a natural pigment made from a local edible plant. All materials are natural and non-toxic, making it perfectly safe for everyday use. Thanks to the natural microporosity of terracotta, this mug can also be used to naturally filter drinking water using an ancestral technique. The clay helps produce cooler, naturally aerated water without the need for electricity or industrial filters. Its compact size makes it ideal for individual daily use while preserving an exceptional Moroccan craft tradition and supporting the women artisans of Idda Douchene.
