The large handcrafted terracotta mug is handmade in the village of Idda Douchene, in the Al Hoceïma province, where pottery has traditionally been the work of women, and the knowledge is passed down from mother to daughter. Crafted from locally sourced clay collected near the village, each mug is shaped using traditional hand-operated pottery wheels and decorated with geometric Amazigh motifs painted with a natural pigment made from a local edible plant. All materials are natural and non-toxic, making it perfectly safe for everyday use. Thanks to the natural microporosity of terracotta, this mug can also be used to naturally filter drinking water. This ancestral method helps produce cooler, naturally aerated water without the need for electricity or industrial filters. Both practical and decorative, each piece preserves a unique Moroccan craft tradition while supporting the women artisans who continue this remarkable heritage.
